Exhibit Analysis

Read charts and tables like a consultant.

Exhibits are not a visual comprehension test. They are a prompt to find the insight that changes the direction of the case.

Exhibit reading flow

  • Read the title, units, timeframe, and labels before calculating.
  • Identify the most important trend, gap, outlier, or comparison.
  • Do only the math needed to support the insight.
  • Connect the exhibit back to the client objective.

What to say out loud

Start with orientation, then insight. For example: "This chart compares channel performance from 2022 to 2024. The key issue is that total growth is healthy, but the client's own channel is underperforming the market."

Exhibit analysis FAQs

Should I describe the whole exhibit?

No. Orient briefly, then focus on the few facts that matter for the question.

What if the exhibit is confusing?

Take a moment to read labels and units. It is better to pause than to rush into the wrong calculation.
